Our Story
Founded on Ubuntu: "Nurturing Youth for a Sustainable Africa"
In 2019, Asinatha Foundation was born from a simple yet powerful belief: Africa's greatest resource is its youth. Founded in Uganda, our organization emerged from the recognition that traditional approaches to development often overlooked the immense potential of young Africans.
Our name "Asinatha" reflects our core philosophy of collective growth and mutual empowerment. We saw youth unemployment, limited access to quality education, and environmental degradation not as insurmountable challenges, but as opportunities for innovative solutions led by the very people most affected by these issues.
🌱Our vision:
Nurturing Youth for a Sustainable Africa.
Our mission:
We believe that Africa’s future rests in the hands of its young people. Our mission is to equip African youth with entrepreneurship, education, and environmental stewardship opportunities. By doing this, we ensure they can create sustainable livelihoods, empower their communities, and drive vital conservation efforts across the continent.
Core Values:
- Ubuntu: Recognizing our interdependence and the principle, “I am because you are and you are because we are.”
- Innovation: Embracing creative and new approaches to youth empowerment.
- Sustainability: Ensuring long-term impact with environmental, economic, and social dimensions.
- Collaboration: Working together with youth, communities, and partners.
- Dare to Disrupt: Willing to challenge and unlock youth potential.
What We Do (Our Focus Areas):
We work to unlock the full potential of youth aged 13–35 years—including young entrepreneurs, students, and community leaders in both urban and rural settings—across the following key focus areas:
- Education and Skills Development: Promoting quality education for employability and innovation (e.g., Elevate 360 Program).
- Youth Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment: Enhancing financial literacy and supporting youth-led sustainable enterprises (e.g., Youth Business Accelerator Program).
- Environmental Conservation and Climate Action: Engaging young people in climate action through our Youth for Conservation (Y4C) Network.
- Gender and Social Inclusion: Empowering girls and young women through mentorship and leadership initiatives (e.g., Young Women Alive and Girls Safety and Sanitation).
Key Achievements:
In just a few years, we have started making a measurable impact:
- Reached 2,000 students aged 13–27 years across more than 7 schools through the Elevate 360 In School Program.
- Successfully established the Youth Business Accelerator program to provide critical support to young entrepreneurs.
